Activity Ten - Sensory Gel Bags

Description:  Children are to use their senses to identify sensory, texture, exploration of colours.

Materials:

  1. Gel

  2. Glitter

  3. Beads (other materials)

  4. Ziploc Bags

  5. Food Colouring

Inquiry: Children observe first as I demonstrate how to make a sensory bag and then
carry out the knowledge to make one without help. All children get to feel textures of shapes and sizes. Children will also inquire the knowledge of mixing colours and how more than one colour mixed together can create a new colour.

Objectives/Outcomes: The objective of this activity is to enhance children’s knowledge of textures and colours. This helps them to understand that they are always within our
sight, whether we are inside or outside. I hope that the outcome will benefit the children’s sensory skills.

Language:  “this is squishy!, this is so much fun, I love all the colours!, I want to add more
materials!”.

Reflection:  From the start of the activity to the finish, the children invested their play time in
being participants in my activity. They loved all the materials included and at the fact that the bags were squishy. All of the children were so inclusive in our learning environment and encouraged even the teachers in the room to join in.
