Description: Counting, identifying a variety of sizes, learning about theme of the week.

Materials

  1. Glue

  2. Pompoms/Cotton balls

  3. Markers

  4. Construction Paper

Inquiry: The inquiry of the activity is for children to use their fine motor skills to feel the
textures of the given materials. Also the purpose of the activity is to understand and learn about basic math skills. This activity relates to their theme of the week (food), and they get to learn more about food.

Objectives/Outcomes:  I hope I operate the activity in a way that the children understand me and can comprehend with their basic math skills and fine motor skills. I hope the children have strong confidence and that even if they make a mistake there is room for improvement.

Language: “Woah! There are six cotton balls, ice cream cones, and I counted them all by myself!”.

Reflection: Overall, the children all came rushing to the table to sit down and observe my sample ice cream cone. They were intrigued by the materials and the texture. Throughout the activity, the children were speaking with each other and talking about how they love ice cream. They were talking about the flavours and what toppings they would add on. Also, i was counting with the children, since the main inquiry was a math activity.
